Your right to dispute directly
Consumers have the right to dispute inaccurate information directly with the credit reporting agencies without paying a credit repair organization.
Consumers may obtain copies of their credit reports through authorized sources, including the free annual disclosures provided under federal law.
What credit restoration can and cannot do
Credit restoration cannot guarantee specific results or credit score increases.
Accurate, current and verifiable information generally cannot legally be removed from a credit report simply because it is negative.
Individual results vary. Past results do not guarantee future outcomes.
Credit Repair Organizations Act (CROA)
Federal law regulates credit repair organizations. Among other protections, you have the right to receive a written contract before any services are performed, the right to cancel that contract within three business days without charge, and the right to receive a written statement of your rights.
No company may charge you before services are fully performed in the manner permitted by law, and no company may advise you to make untrue statements to a credit reporting agency or creditor.
Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)
The FCRA promotes the accuracy, fairness and privacy of information in consumer reporting agency files. It gives you the right to know what is in your file, to dispute incomplete or inaccurate information, and to have inaccurate or unverifiable information corrected or deleted.
